Senator Ted Stevens and the Average Guy

I believe the prosecution of Senator Ted Stevens with such shabby evidence, and the withholding of information from Sen. Stevens’ defense team was definitely a miscarriage of justice. With that said I disagree with 99.99% of all Sen. Stevens’ views on everything.

The real reason for this article is to ask all the major media and news outlets, where are they when the average guy who aren't a member of government who can’t afford high price attorneys? There is no way Sen. Stevens’ story would have been told if he wasn't a prominent member of society. Average guys who are charged with similar crimes get stuck with a public defender simply because they can’t afford a high price lawyer. I have to say I respect public defenders, I know most public defenders have case loads that are overwhelming and overloaded for one attorney to the large number of people on their calendar. However, Sen. Ted Stevens will be able to get his case esponged, while the guy with no money and stuck with a public defender has to settle with a public criminal record for anyone to view. When the average guy goes on a job interview they have to omit the fact they were arrested erroneously.

I said all of that to say this, the average guy lives in a whole different world similar to Sen. Ted Stevens. Which leads me to ask, why is it the average working guy who is employed at General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford have to continue to give up concessions while workers on Wall Street walk away with millions in bonuses? I refuse to sit here and act like everybody know what’s happening, as a matter of fact listen to the people who call-in to CSPAN and give their opinions. After about five minutes you will confirm the majority of them don’t have a clue what’s really happening. We have ‘Left Wing’ and ‘Right Wing’ people saying things about what’s going on in this country. The problem with all of these lefties and righties giving their opinions about the status of our country, the majority of them listen to pundits and talking heads because they’re too lazy to do any research to see if any of the people they’re listening to have any merit about what they’re saying.

I’ll end with this; I understand politicians make a lot more money than the average guy. But if the average guy don’t let their voices be heard, then they’re part of the problem; “A closed mouth don’t get fed!!!”
